Hold the phone!

In all the rushing around to get back east, we forgot to wish Nana Sally a very Happy Birthday. So thanks to Daddy Teddy, who is making this belated long-distance happy birthday message a reality, we're sending our love from Hershey, Pennsylvania. We hope you had a wonderful day!

Love, and Hershey kisses,

Una and Tara (and Teddy).

Oh Christmas Tree!

Una and i are off to Pennsylvania for the holidays and, since i am not bringing my computer with me, you will just have to stare at this pretty face for a couple of weeks. Merry Christmas to everyone! i don't think i will get my act together this year to do christmas cards. the above photos are about as close as i will get.

Peace on earth, goodwill to all and lots and lots of christmas goodies,
Una, Ted and Tara
xo.

Another Tooth!

I don't have pictures of said teeth, but i excitedly discovered Una's second bottom tooth this morning. Might explain why she was up 2 times last night crying for over an hour each time. She's also sick on top of it all. So probably both. Anyways, she give's her new tooth the thumbs up. Guess we gotta start getting serious about cleaning them and this whole food thing...it may be time to try something besides rice cereal.

8 Months

Una is 8 months old today...and we finally got her dresser done for the occasion. It took me two months to sand, clean, paint and get the oil cloth in place, but we will now finally get her clothes out of bags. I wouldn't have been able to do it if not for my lovely in-laws who were here last week and watched Una while i worked on it. Thank you Sally and Tim! And also, thank you to Laurie, Una's fairy godmother, who suggested i paint the knobs a different color. You were right. I love how it turned out!

Una also is officially sick with her first cold/flu. I was sick this weekend and still getting over it, and now she's got it, or something similar. But she's doing pretty well, considering. We're both just learning how to deal with copious amounts of baby snot...and i was rather proud of myself for remaining calm while she barfed all over me this morning...it was a 3 part affair and a little scary. Then she just looked at me like, "oh gross, mommy!"

Anyways, we have spoken to the advice nurse and will go in to see the doctor before we fly on saturday just to make sure we are all ship shape...so don't worry, Nana Sally! I'll keep you posted.

Pretty in Pink

Wanda, our neighbor next door, gave this sweater to Una when she was first born. I remember thinking, man, that is huge! It's going to take forever for her to grow into it...and now she has...and it's adorable! It was handmade by a senior citizens guild in the Hollywood Neighborhood, not too far from this one. Una reminds me alot of her Aunt Asten in these photos. Aunty Asten is also very pretty in pink.

My Adoring Public

Our Thanksgiving Weekend

What a lovely time we had in Seattle! A few things...it was very mellow. We spent the day cooking and then eating and reading to Una. Grandpa and Grandma brought Una a bonnet from the Amish country of Minnesota, so Una was decked out in a slightly pilgrim/laura ingalls look, very fitting...and very cute. Her daddy was decked out in harvest colors including orange and brown stripy pants and a shirt with a cornucopia theme. When he pointed out his unassuming orange and brown stripy socks that matched his pants, his mom replied, "Yes Darling, you are a symphony."

The next day, we were treated by a cloudless sunny day, rare in these parts at this time of year. So we made the most of it, and went for a long walk at the Olympic Sculpture Park which i hadn't seen yet. To be honest, the landscape was way more impressive than the art, except i really liked Richard Serra's piece. It has a gorgeous rusty color that contrasts with the blue sky, and sensual curves that slice through that sky. Its scale is large enough to give you the feeling that you are in some sort of canyon...the urban canyon of seattle. Also, the other thing that was way cool was how people were interacting with the art. Due to the time of day, the light was perfect for casting shadows on those rusty walls, and i had fun watching groups of people taking turns spelling out words with their arms or making other kinds of fun shadows. To me, that makes the art even more successful...when it serves as a blank canvas for the viewer.

Besides sitting in a high chair for the first time (which she loved by the way because she got to be at the table with everyone else and we were all able to eat at the same time while she quietly played with her toys), Una finally got her first tooth! For the past week i kept thinking maybe something was there, but yesterday i could definitely feel it and see it briefly when Una gave me a chance. It's on the bottom slightly to her right...and it's a sharp little thing!

Lastly, we want to thank Aunt Jude for hosting us this weekend and getting all the baby necessities we needed. You made our stay just lovely, and your house is so comfortable! We really enjoyed ourselves. Big kisses!
