Morning Outfit

Another gorgeous morning...Una took a brief "walk" outside with daddy. She's wearing this super cute little house coat that my Aunt Helen made for her. It's soft and just perfect for wearing over her pajamas. Thanks Aunt Helen!

Flowers are bursting out of every nook and cranny, a little early this year perhaps. Crocus, daffodils, plums and now the magnolias buds are starting to peak out of their shells. I know we still have lots of cold wet rain ahead of us, so we try to enjoy these gifts when we get them.

Today, i am also thinking of my Grandma Gretta. She passed away 3 years ago today. I'm still getting used to the fact that she's no longer here and we miss her lots. I wonder what she'd think of little Ms. Una...besides the obvious, of course.

Spring is just around the corner.

You are Beautiful!

I recently received a very big compliment when my friend Allison, who i met at in grad school, asked me to photograph her. She follows this blog and loves the photos i take of Una. Of course i said, YES! These are only 3 of many many fabulous shots. It was a lot of fun! I love photographing people, and Allison made it easy just by being who she is.

Happy Birthday Thane!

Thane Atticus Georgeton lives in Bend, Oregon and today is his 1st birthday! He's a Valentine baby. Above are photos of Thane, one taken a few days ago and the other when he was first born (he's wearing booties that i made for him). Thane's mommy Kristin is one of my best friends, and we wish we lived much closer. We owe the Georgeton's a visit as they have come to see us a few times now. Miss you guys! Happy happy best wishes to Mr. Thane. You have some gorgeous eyelashes, sir!

The Phant

This was a big week for Una. I feel like she really took off. First a new tooth and a couple days ago she started sitting herself up. She can now go from laying on her back to rolling over and pushing herself up to a sitting position. It is so exciting to watch something like that happen for the first time. We also started to work with her more on standing while holding her hands and i think this is what launched her. Pretty darn cool. Mommy also finally sat down and did some sewing. Above is my first attempt at an elephant pattern that i have. it turned out pretty cute.

i also want to point out the sock monkey quilt in the photos above. Ivy did most of the work on it and i finished it. it too is very cute, and Una loves looking at the monkeys. She's big on ducks and monkeys. We had a couple of GORGEOUS warm sunny days this past week, so i took Una to Laurelhurst Park to look at the ducks. i think she fell in love. Some people are dog people, some cat people. Una is a duck person. Very fitting coming from a family of quacklings...

Uni B.

Ms. Cutie Patootie, who we also sometimes call Uni B, has some updating to do on her progress. First off, as of yesterday, on her 10 month birthday, Una has a new tooth! it is her upper right tooth and it looks huge! She's still not crawling, but is getting closer and closer every day. She is, however, standing a lot and can do so holding on to ones hands. i've been letting her cruise the sofas while spotting her of course. The hardest thing so far has been just letting her take a few small bumps and falls to teach her, hopefully, not to let herself fall. She's also been babbling alot, playing peek-a-boo, and generally being a happy little kid who is really into books. Especially the sign language books i got Ted for christmas. She loves those. Oh, and the other really cute thing that we started doing was throwing a soft block back and forth to each other. Patty gave me the idea to try it. It's amazing how fast they get the concept. Una's funny about it. She gets all coyishly put out about the whole thing.

We had a well visit with the doctor last month, and Una now weighs 16 lbs 10.5 oz. and is 28" long. The doc said he's happy with her progress, but due to Una having an aversion to solid foods, he recommends that we go to a speech pathologist to help her get over, perhaps, a bad association with food. She seems to do fine with most baby food from a jar, but it's the mashed up foods that she has a problem with. so, we'll see how that goes.
