Happy Belated!

We were a little asleep at the switch and forgot to wish our lovely Aunt Jude a very Happy Birthday. She is currently partying it up in New Mexico with Tim, Kathy, Tim Sr. and Sally...and we know they are doing it right by the sights of those chocolate cupcakes...my goodness they were mouth watering!  We send our love and wish we were with you all!

please note: none of the above photos are current, but we thought you'd enjoy them just the same!

Bath Time Again

Last night i gave Una a bath, and it was the first time where she seemed to actually enjoy it instead of just putting up with it. I think she's figuring out how much fun it can be and started splashing with her hand (right hand only) in the water. I wish i had some footage or a photo but i only had 2 hands and the camera was not within reach. You'll just have to take my word for it...it was super cute.

Queen Cuteness

I can't even believe how much i love this little munchkin...more and more each day! She's just so damn cute. Our newest discovery is that Una is ticklish and she has the best little laugh...it's melt your heart material. Don't get me wrong, she can also scream like a banshee, but then again, she's a baby and babies do these sorts of things. Ok, i'm getting out the Palmolive for a moment, cuz i had a deep thought...I used to look at Una and think of her as being half of me and half of ted and how amazing that was. But, the other day i realized that Una is really so many people. She's like this little vessel of our parents and grandparents, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles...some maybe of which we've never known...all wrapped up in the cutest of packages...and when i look at her now, i see traces of all of them...and that blows my mind.

speaking of cute wrappings...today's photo session was inspired by this sweet little color combination...i got the dress for 5 bucks at one of portland's many "don't dare step foot inside this place unless you want to leave with something" store. I was a sucker for the dress, not only because it was 5 bucks, but also because it's yellow and made of eyelet and those two things are so nostalgic of my childhood...the glorious '70's! The sweater is one of our latest gifts of love made by our friend Pam and we do love it.

one other thing, totally not related to Una or babies. Ted and i went out to the movies on sunday night and saw 9. I enjoyed it although ted thought it was a little cheesy...the animation, however, is incredible. Anyways, i visited the restroom after the show....so just think of what you normally do when you visit the restroom, i don't have to spell it out for you, but it includes typically not checking first to see if there is any TP. So when that time came i went to grab some and found that someone had so thoughtfully left some in between the 2 empty rolls. how sweet is that?! it was especially sweet after seeing a movie that was about the end of humanity, so i paid it forward and replenished the supply by grabbing a healthy amount of squares from the next stall over. TP fairy...whoever you are...i want to thank you.

The Swifts

Reason #456 why i love portland...each year 6,000 swifts roost every night for the month of september in the old smoke stack at Chapman Elementary...and they do it up in style with lots of great visuals. And every year, portlanders grab their kids, their dogs and their significant others, pack a picnic and hang out starting at 6pm to watch the show. They OOH, they AAAH and they clap their hands. It's better than fireworks. this year it had the feel of a sporting event because 2 falcons crashed the party looking for a tasty morsel and then got chased by the rest of the swarm. it was quite the show. Watch the video above to get a look at some of the best highlights from this evening's performance.

Oh, and the other thing that is cool about the whole event is even though we made plans to watch the show with laurie, dave, lily and sara, we also ran into michael, jaylen, gavin, griffin and a variety of other folks, so we had a spontaneous little party...which was great!

Happy Birthday Nanny!

Today is my Nanny's birthday and Una would like to wish her a very Happy Birthday all the way from Oregon. As you can see she is growing like a weed and loves the blanket you made for her. i also got her to smile for this photo by singing the Camptown Ladies...works every time! Love you, Nanny. See you soon!

Landed

We had a few exhausting days since we've been home...but mommy is starting to feel like a real person again...at least so far this morning. Una started waking up at all hours of the night (and none of us have gotten much sleep) and she had her second round of shots on wednesday. The good news is she got a good bill of health from the doctor and is now 12lbs 3ozs and 25-1/4" long. She's still very low on the weight charts but is catching up on length. The bad news is she had a fever all yesterday and last night due to the vaccines, so she spent most of yesterday crying. Poor Baby Belle. I'm glad to report, however, that the fever is gone and she seems back to her chipper self this morning.

I also realized that today is september 11th and I can't believe that we were watching the World Trade towers burn and crumble eight years ago. It seems that each year on this day the weather is absolutely gorgeous, a perfect late summer day with lots of sunshine, just as it was in 2001...perhaps a little tribute to those lost. All i can say is, thank you Jesus we no longer have Bush and Dicky Boy in the white house. We can only hope the world will be a better place for our little ones in the coming years, than it has been in the last 8. Although, given the fact that Obama is not Tinkerbelle, it's going to take some time. But i digress...

Last Day of Vacation

On our last day of vacation (yesterday), we got to see Ms. Sarah Page and she got to meet Una. Sarah also brought over incredible pastries from the Baker's Wife Pastry Shop and i'm recording it here so we don't forget it. They were to DIE for...i mean really yum! Thank you, Sarah.

Well, we had an awesome time and we were sad to leave Nana Sally and Grandpa Tim and Ms. Fanny, but we will be back real soon! Thank you so much for a fine time in MPLS and Turtle Lake!
Well, we wer

The Gang's All Here (Minus 2)

Sherbet sunrises and sunsets, balmy afternoon breezes, a full moon, the smell of cedar trees, water like white wine, liquid sunshine, resident eagles, porcupines, little red squirrel tyrants, a mopey zog who is ever faithful, birthday party, bugles, friends, family and lots of good times here at Turtle Lake. We really hate to leave, especially on such a delicious day.
