Feeding the Baby

Una is a little behind on the eating thing (she's still eating stage 2 purees), so when Nana Sally was here, she worked real hard to get Una to eat as much as possible. It sure was a big help! Just this morning, Una was eating big pieces of Rockin' Rye Dave's Killer Bread. i didn't think she's like it, but she's eaten more of this than the honey wheat or the ciabatta toast. Ya just never know. Another example, when you mix up avocado, banana, blueberries and throw in oatmeal it looks just like poop. But she loves it.

*note: i wanted to credit ted with taking these beautiful photos of una and sally.

Saying Bye-Bye

Oh, we were so sad to wake up this morning without Nana Sally and Grandpa Tim! We had such a good time, and it was so nice having them here and helping us celebrate Una and Ted's birthdays. Thank you so much for coming out to be with us. We miss you already! xoxo.

Celebration

We celebrated ted's birthday with a party on saturday. There were lots of lovely people, cookies, cake, pie, tea, poems and photos. Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate!

Laurie put together a wonderful photo montage for ted. Click here to view it.

Sauvie's Island

What a gorgeous day, yesterday. We went to Sauvie's Island, one of ted's favorite places, to enjoy his birthday day.

Dinner at Navarre

Una discovered an entire world under the table at Navarre.

Presents afterward with more vanilla-sauced chocolate cake.

Ode to Ted on his 40th Birthday

We had a party for mr. ted yesterday, and in honor of 40, wrote and read poems to him. Here are a few to enjoy. Anne's was a total tear jerker. Sally read it and almost didn't make it through to the end. Happy Birthday, Teddy!

There once was a boy named Ted
with tangled blond curls on his head
some say of this child
that his hair was so wild
he should just wear a swim cap instead.
~Erika, Percy and Opal

Love as a Time Warp (My Ode to Ted)
Always dancing before my eyes,
a tow-headed tse-tse fly
tagging along
chittering and chattering
poking me in the ribs
noinxing and coinxing and scroixing -
more action packed
than a vaudeville show
with a
self-igniting poodle.
A wriggling
infuriating
stick puppet,
all elbows and knees
and
insistent
really
insistent
but ineffably lovable
totally irreplaceable
my little woodpecker,
my little brother.

~Anne

A quasi-haiku on my brother, turning 40
A face like my own
Looking back at mine in the rain,
Snickering.
~Timmy

For Ted:
Proud of you, love you, for you
I would make
vanilla sauced cake anytime.
~Judy

Happy Birthday Matt!
