Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

These photos are really more like hangin' hangin' hangin' with my daddy and were taken over the weekend, but they are cute even though they don't go with Una's big news, which is that she rolled over for the first time today at 4:45pm. And i do mean all the way over. It took her a few tries but she did it, going from her back to her stomach. She had her head up, holding herself totally steady with her arms. it was pretty darn exciting to watch! And then she was on her tummy, so i sang her a little MC Hammer "Tummy Time" (our version of Hammer Time) which always gets a smile. Later she rolled over again for daddy when he came home from work. Way to go, Baby Belle!

Happy Birthday Grandpa Tim!

Today is my Grandpa Tim's Birthday and we want to send him lots of hugs and kisses from Portland! We sure hope you have a great day, and we wish we could be there to help celebrate.

Balloon Fun

Ivy had this great idea to bring Una a balloon and clip it to her sock. So we did just that (thanks Laurie for picking up the balloon!) and as you can see, it was a thrill a minute for Una. Laurie and Ivy spent the afternoon with us. We made a fire, Ted made apple crisp, i made stuffed peppers and Ivy made Una's quilt for her crib. it was a warm, cozy and lovely afternoon.

Autumn Beauty

Yesterday, we were treated to a gorgeous fall day. Equally gorgeous is this little baby whom i adore. she seemed even more beautiful when i woke up...like she had grown over night...and a little bit heavier too. She stops traffic in this little gnome hat. We've had everyone from little girls playing on the street to random young men on the Max to the entire staff of Navarre going ga-ga over her. i told Una that all she has to do is smile and they melt, to which her daddy replied, "For now. But someday, you still have to learn calculus."

Domestic Godess

I can't believe it took me this long to make a pumpkin pie. I mean, this is the first time i EVER made a pumpkin pie...and it was so easy! ok, so i used canned pumpkin...and i bought the pie crust (the gluten and wheat-free pie crust that is required by my husband), but still, i'm pretty darn proud of myself. i also consolidated spices tonight...and made my first soup ever...this time from scratch. Betty Crocker watch out...i got aprons you would die for!

Unacorn

Una is losing her hair and she's looking pretty bald these days except for one last tenacious tuft in the front, which makes her look like a unicorn...or like her dad as a teenager.

A Portrait

Here's a nice photo that we haven't posted yet, taken at the lake this summer. Una and her daddy on a lovely summer day.

Apple Tasting

We walked up to Portland Nursery today to partake in their apple tasting festivities and to buy some apples. It was a great deal, 89 cents per pound, and i'm mostly telling you this in memory of my grandma gretta, who would have whole conversations with me about the prices of vegetables and fruit. Plus, apples always remind me of her as well. Anyways, the apple strudel was nothing to write home about, so i won't, but the weather was very lovely, and we ran into our friends, Serra, Kenan and Baby Isaak. And we pulled up a straw bale and listened to the Pete Krebs Trio play some mighty fine music...Oh Emily.

Una is 6 Months Today

To celebrate, we went out to dinner with Laurie and Ivy, and we gave Una some rice cereal, her first solid food. After weeks of watching us eat with wide-eyed focus, she had a very lackluster level of enthusiasm about the whole thing, but she did eat some of it. Also, in celebration, we finally bought Una a dresser. It's cute, made of wood and was 54 bucks. You can't beat that. Now i just need to figure out how to get it home.
