Ladybug Digs
Una is loving her new ladybug digs and her way cool zebra fur coat with the pink satin lining (her daddy would also like one in his size). The outfit came complete with paten leather ladybug shoes, and when we put them on her for the first time, Una kept staring at them like they were the ruby slippers...there's no place like home. Thanks Aunt Kathie!

The Unabet
Dear Aunt Belle,
Thank you so much for the beautiful book that you made me. It is AMAZING! Mommy and Daddy couldn't stop talking about it, and it took them FOREVER to let me hold it because they kept hogging it. They didn't know how you would be able to make something like that being as busy as you are, but i said, "Duh! Aunt Belle has super hero powers and can do lots of really cool things all at once. She probably has a cape or a magical hat or maybe some of those rad gold bracelets like Wonder Woman that she keeps hidden away from the family...you know, for secret identity purposes." Seriously Aunt Belle, if you do have some of those fancy-ass magical bracelets, can i try them on the next time i visit? I really dig that kind of stuff. Thanks again for my special book. I will cherish it always.
Love,
Una
p.s. When i grow up, i hope i'm as talented as you.
p.s.s Don't tell anyone i said "fancy-ass." I am way too young for such language.

Meeting Alex
Una had the pleasure of meeting Alex for the first time on sunday. Alex, who was Ted's Best Man, recently moved back to Portland from Hawaii after living there for a year. It's wonderful to have her back in town, and Una really took a liking to her, duh, as Alex = FUN! She also brought Una a very rad new bear that has lots of accessories in the forms of other little critters. Thanks Alex, Una is loving it lots!

Hello Dolly!
Una received a very special gift for christmas. Nanny made her a Raggedy Ann doll along with a matching quilt, all by hand. She's made 25 of them over the years using the same pattern that my mom used to make mine. I still have mine and it's sitting in Una's room though it looks a little different. Mine has orange hair and Una's has magenta hair which is very fitting for Portland, the land of brightly colored hair and tattoos. Una loves her dolly. Thanks Nanny!
First Snow
Una enjoyed her first snow fall while we were back east. It was part of the big storm that hit the east coast on December 19th. Thankfully, Ted arrived the night before and even though the snow hadn't begun yet, his bag didn't make it for 4 more days. We were also supposed to see Josh, Marcia and Clyde, but didn't due to the snow. That was a big bummer, because we heart the Thomas', but, as the saying goes, better safe than sorry.
Trains, Trains, Trains
My dad volunteered to be the engineer at the Hershey Historical Society during it's christmas trains display. So we went to see him. Above is a photo of Una and Grandpa with figures of Milton Hershey and his wife, Katherine. The display was really cool and included 4 different trains. Plus, there were various buttons you could push that would activate displays like the horse races or the circus or the ice skaters. My dad had a mini christmas tree this year, and i got him a mini train to put under it, which made us think how we'd like to start a tradition of putting a train under the tree. Ted said they use to do that when he was a kid. Ted's dad is a big train buff, so there ya go, grandpa Tim....get your trains ready for next christmas!
Visiting Asten
Una's Aunt Asten is a horse trainer, and we went to see her while she was working on a very cold but beautiful day. At first Una was a little frightened by these big furry animals, but later she was squealing with delight while watching the horses prance around the arena. It's obvious that Asten loves her job, and she's also very talented at it. Thanks for showing us around, Asty!
